Designed as a community-centered conversation, the Justice Bus Tour aims to provide families with practical information, support resources, and open dialogue surrounding educational advocacy and student rights. The session will focus on helping residents better understand Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), 504 Plans, and the long-term impact educational systems can have on youth outcomes.
Topics of discussion will include:

- The differences between an IEP and a 504 Plan
- Questions families should ask schools
- Educational advocacy and access to resources
- The broader impact of the school-to-prison pipeline
Attendees can expect educational presentations, facilitated community dialogue, distribution of resources and equity toolkits, and access to community support services. Meals and additional community resources will also be available during the event.
"This initiative is about creating space for honest conversations, empowering families with knowledge, and ensuring residents have access to tools that can positively impact their children's futures," said representatives from the Sanford Housing Authority and NAACP Sanford-Lee County Branch. "When communities are informed and connected, we build stronger foundations for opportunity and success."
The Justice Bus Tour is part of Sanford Housing Authority's ongoing commitment to resident engagement, education, and equitable community partnerships. The event is open to all residents and community members.
